Job Description (JD): Cultural Development Manager, Rushmoor

Are you passionate about the difference arts and culture can make in communities?

As a Cultural Development Manager, you will play a leading role in growing arts and cultural engagement and provision in Rushmoor, as well as supporting wider engagement across Hampshire. You will work closely with the Senior Cultural Development Manager to support individual artists and grass-roots arts organisations, taking a leading role in making connections and nurturing new ideas and opportunities. You will additionally support delivery against the NPO strategy holistically across Hampshire.

Coming at a time of significant opportunity in Rushmoor, this role will work closely with Rushmoor Borough Council to increase participation in arts, culture and heritage and build a case for future investments. This role has been funded by Arts Council England.

While some provision for home working is possible, the nature of this role means you can expect to be regularly meeting face-to-face with partners and stakeholders and visiting different locations across Rushmoor.

A bit about you

Your time working in the cultural sector will have given you first-hand experience of how to harness arts and heritage to make a difference in communities. You will be able to draw lessons from what has and hasn’t worked in the past and apply it to a new context in Rushmoor.

Over the course of your career to date, you will have learned how to connect with people, making it easier for you to build support from different stakeholders as you drive forward change. You’ll be familiar with the challenges and rewards of co-creation, partnership and consultation, and will be sensitive to the dynamics of those groups you are working with.

You will be confident charting a course to achieve defined targets and outcomes and will know how to rally a group in pursuit of a common goal. The prospect of working on a range of different projects at one time will energise you, and you will be comfortable developing your workplan and prioritising your approach.

What it’s like to work for us

At Hampshire Cultural Trust, we have a vision to create inspirational cultural experiences that enrich and transform lives. We manage and support 23 attractions across Hampshire and deliver county-wide outreach programmes that bring great culture to local communities. We also deliver a diverse range of wider social impact initiatives targeted at those who are most vulnerable or disadvantaged and who would not usually have access to arts and culture.

We are committed to promoting equity, inclusion and diversity and a culture that actively values difference. We recognise that people from different backgrounds and experiences can enhance the way we perform and work. We aim to be inclusive, valuing and respecting diversity, developing the ability to recruit and retain a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve and seek to engage.

We will be running a dynamic recruitment process so we encourage candidates to submit an application as soon as possible as we will be interviewing candidates before the closing date.

To apply, please fill in the application form with an up-to-date CV. A covering letter is required for this position as we would be grateful to receive context to your application.

Closing date for applications: 26.01.2025

Proposed Interview date: 11.02.2025
