Weekend Maintenance & Caretaker Operative

Your Role
We are seeking a reliable and multi-skilled Maintenance & Caretaker Operative to join our Liverpool team on weekends. This position is Saturday and Sunday, 8am – 8pm, based at one building only. You will need to work independently, managing both maintenance and caretaking tasks to ensure the building is safe, functional, and welcoming for residents.
The ideal candidate will have excellent maintenance skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive, "can-do" attitude. You should be confident working alone, with the ability to use IT systems such as electronic diaries and in-house maintenance platforms (training provided).
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service within the building.
* Respond to reported issues promptly, managing tasks independently while liaising with the Property Manager as required.
* Carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including tiling, basic plumbing, joinery, painting, decorating, and basic electrical works.
* Undertake caretaking duties in communal areas, including maintaining the bin store, keeping shared spaces tidy, and assisting residents with parcel distribution.
* Follow safe working practices, reporting faulty equipment or potential hazards.
* Ensure all scheduled jobs are completed and updates logged in in-house systems.
* Maintain inventories and carry out monthly audits of tools and equipment.
* Communicate with residents professionally, leaving maintenance cards after each job.
Key Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a maintenance or caretaking role.
* Strong practical skills across painting, decorating, joinery, plumbing, and general repairs.
* Ability to work independently and proactively, using initiative to ensure the building and communal areas are well-maintained.
* Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines without supervision.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as this is a resident-facing role.
Hours
Part time role 24 hours per week working 8am - 8pm each week Saturday and Sunday
Salary
£12.21 per hour
