Job Title: Operational Customs Compliance Manager
Salary: £57,100-£76,500

About the role
The purpose of this role is twofold. Firstly, as our Customs Compliance Manager, you will oversee and manage, in conjunction with the Customs Tax Manager, an international trade compliance framework for Cambridge University Press & Assessment. This will include work on developing and enhancing that framework aligned to legislation changes and future change initiatives, all of which will ensure our global customs footprint remains ‘fit for purpose'. Secondly, you will be responsible for leading a dual site logistics function which is accountable for shipping our examination products to over 160 countries worldwide. As such, you will play a pivotal role in our global operation.
Key Accountabilities:
* Customs Compliance: Accountable for the direction, guidance, day-to-day leadership, development and management of trade compliance aspects of operational fulfilment across Cambridge University Press & Assessment
* Exams Logistics: Leading an operational department which is responsible for the shipping of all of our exam product by air, land and sea
* Supply Chain Planning & Strategy: Drive efficient goods movement strategies and frameworks, demonstrating adaptability where laws change.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with International Tax, Finance, Legal and Product teams to ensure seamless compliance
* Risk Management: Identify and mitigate customs and tax risks, developing contingency plans as needed
* Reporting & Analysis: Deliver insightful reports and analyse data to continually enhance processes and updated senior stakeholders
About you
As an experienced manager, you will possess an in-depth understanding of UK and international customs laws and regulations, coupled with a strong grasp of logistics pertinent to international trade. Proficiency in imports/export procedures, tariffs, and classifications is essential, as is familiarity with customs compliance software and tools.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate expertise in logistical and operational fulfilment, along with a comprehensive understanding of supply chain operations and their intersection with customs and tax compliance.
More About You
* Relevant degree level qualification. A professional logistics supply chain/customs related qualification would be beneficial.
* Proven track record of successfully managing customs compliance for international operations.
* Experience in liaising with government authorities and customs agencies.
