Job Title: Purchasing Assistant Location: Bedford Pay: £13.40 per hour Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm, Friday 8:00am–1:00pm Contract: Fixed-term (with potential to become permanent) Industry: Engineering Our client, a leading engineering company, is looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join their team in Bedford. This role is ideal for someone with experience in manufacturing and procurement who wants a varied, hands-on position in a supportive environment. You will help keep materials flowing into production, chase up supplier orders, and provide vital administrative support. The role comes with a competitive hourly rate, an early finish on Fridays, and the chance to move into a permanent position. Candidates with experience as a Procurement Assistant, Purchasing Administrator, Buying Assistant, Supply Chain Assistant or Procurement Coordinator are encouraged to apply. What you’ll be doing Support the day-to-day purchasing and procurement process Expedite supplier orders to keep production on schedule Issue consignment stock to production staff Raise purchase orders in SAP using MRP, Kanban cards, and requisitions Keep accurate records and provide general admin support What we’re looking for Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment Confidence in expediting supplier orders Knowledge of consignment stock processes Ability to raise POs using SAP, MRP, and Kanban Strong organisation and communication skills A team player with excellent attention to detail What’s on offer £13.40 per hour Fixed-term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent Early finish every Friday for better work-life balance Opportunity to develop your skills within a respected engineering business If you’re organised, proactive, and ready to grow as a Purchasing Assistant in a successful engineering company, we’d love to hear from you.
