Job Description
Data Migration Project Manager
Permanent · Remote-first · Competitive salary · Occasional travel to client sites
The job in 30 seconds
You'll lead the data migration workstream within a large-scale platform transformation, working alongside other project managers and reporting to a programme director. That means owning the migration plan from source analysis through to cutover — coordinating the people, the sequencing, and the quality gates that make sure data lands safely. If you've run multi-wave migrations before and thrive in a structured programme environment, this is the role.
What your week looks like as our Project Manager
* You run multi-stage data migrations into a consolidated target platform — profiling sources, managing mapping and transformation rules, coordinating cleansing, running rehearsal cycles, and executing cutover.
* You build and maintain migration run-books, wave sequencing plans, and rollback strategies so that every migration event is controlled and repeatable.
* You work with business SMEs to resolve mapping conflicts, validate transformation logic, and get sign-off at each readiness gate.
* You manage the dependencies between migration waves and parallel integration delivery across Azure and Microsoft cloud components.
* You sit close enough to the solution design to challenge assumptions and surface risks before they become blockers — without needing to build anything yourself.
* You coordinate go-live readiness across data, environments, integration, and support teams, then see it through stabilisation.
* You report migration progress, risks, and decisions to programme leadership clearly and without unnecessary noise.
What you bring as our Project Manager
You'll need:
* Hands-on experience managing data migration projects — ideally multi-wave, involving legacy decommission or platform consolidation
* A solid understanding of the migration lifecycle: profiling, mapping, transformation, reconciliation, rehearsal, cutover
* The ability to read data models, mapping specs, and ETL/ELT designs well enough to know when something doesn't add up
* A track record of coordinating data engineers, architects, business SMEs, and third-party vendors through structured delivery
* Strong RAID, dependency, and sequencing management across concurrent workstreams
* Communication that works for both technical teams and senior stakeholders
Helpful but not required:
* Exposure to Dataverse, Dynamics 365, or Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse)
* Experience with data quality tooling or reconciliation frameworks
* Background in regulated or large enterprise environments
* Familiarity with integration patterns that sit alongside migration activity
What you get
* Remote-first flexibility — work from home as standard, with occasional travel to client sites when needed.
* Migration work that matters — multi-source, multi-wave data programmes where your planning directly determines whether the programme lands.
* Architecture-led clarity — established technical patterns and experienced architects, so you're managing delivery, not guessing at design.
* Career progression — support to move into senior delivery, migration lead, or data architecture pathways.
* Competitive salary plus benefits, aligned to mid–senior PM market rates.
