Knowledge Director | Bristol
This is a newly created strategic role within a forward-thinking UK law firm, designed for an experienced professional support or knowledge lawyer ready to take the next step, leading knowledge management at a firm-wide level, shaping innovation, and driving how the firm uses knowledge, data, and technology to deliver smarter client outcomes.
The Opportunity: You’ll sit at the centre of the firm’s knowledge strategy, working with senior leadership, professional support lawyers, and cross-functional teams (risk, IT, innovation, and business operations) to enhance how knowledge is shared, managed, and applied across the business. You’ll take ownership of relationships and contracts with key legal information providers, ensuring the firm gets the most from its technology and knowledge investments. This is a visible, relationship-led role, ideal for someone who combines strong technical grounding with strategic awareness and people influence.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Shaping and implementing knowledge strategy: Leading firm-wide initiatives to enhance knowledge management, legal process design, and the integration of AI and emerging technologies.
* Building collaboration and consistency: Working closely with PSLs and practice groups to identify priorities, standardise best practice, and align initiatives with the firm’s broader innovation and risk frameworks. Overseeing partnerships with key providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring optimal use of platforms and data resources.
* Optimising business processes: Reviewing workflows, precedents, and documentation to drive efficiency, consistency, and knowledge sharing across teams.
* Connecting people and technology: Acting as the bridge between legal, risk, and IT teams, translating business needs into practical, technology-enabled knowledge solutions.
About You
* Experienced knowledge lawyer or PSL seeking a strategic, firm-wide role
* Broad commercial, corporate, or litigation background with strong technical and project management skills
* Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage change
* Commercially astute, tech-savvy, and excited by the potential of AI and innovation in legal services
* Collaborative, pragmatic, and confident operating across diverse practice areas and teams
