Business Development Director - UK Public Sector

Job Description The role will be part of a successful, growing team focused on UK Central Government opportunities. The team is made up of a number of salespeople, who generate new opportunities and/or lead on responses to large government procurement programmes. * Customer Management: Spend time with your customers – onsite with customer and Version 1 team. Travel regularly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, retain and grow revenue.
* Contract Management: Work with delivery practices to ensure commercial targets are achieved for your customers and that contracts awarded to Version 1 are successfully executed.
* Opportunity Management: Focus on new business development in existing accounts, leading both small and large sales opportunities, including bids and sales material preparation.
* Job Objectives:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business, referrals and identification of new opportunities.
o Lead quarterly business review meetings covering performance, customer satisfaction, innovation, quality and improvements.
o Lead sales opportunities through the Commercial team or strategic technology partnerships.
o Identify and develop new business opportunities via networking, cold calling and other lead generation techniques.
o Lead on and support bids, preparing and managing all bid and sales materials.
o Lead the pre‑qualification process to ensure all opportunities are fully qualified and winnable.
o Create and manage an account plan, setting out the customer strategy on a rolling 24‑month basis.
o Manage your sales pipeline, including prospecting, qualifying and closing deals; monitor and report on sales performance metrics.
o Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue goals.
o Collaborate with commercial, pre‑sales, advisory services, practice and marketing to develop effective proposals.
o Prepare and present sales proposals and presentations to prospective clients.
o Conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends, competition and potential new business opportunities.
o Work closely with technical teams to ensure solutions meet customer needs.
o Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients.
* Qualifications:
o Strong experience in a business development environment within the UK Public Sector, focusing on Central Government.
o Knowledge of Public Sector tender processes, including Government Frameworks applicable to Central Government.
o Experience working in an IT Services and technology solutions environment.
o Influencing skills – ability to get people at multiple levels to deliver what you need on time and with high quality.
o Proven experience building strong customer relationships.
