Overview
The post holder will assist in the day-to-day operational requirements of the catering service within this premise. Duties include basic food preparation and service of all foods in compliance with the Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drinks in schools (Scotland) regulations 2008, adherence to relevant legislation, and setting up/clearing away equipment for food service. General cleaning to a high standard includes crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, kitchen and dining room areas, staff rest room and toilets. The post holder must adhere to the Food Safety System, Safe Systems of Work, and Health and Safety legislation. Knowledge of such legislation would be advantageous, as would previous experience in this type of work. The successful candidate should be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is exempt from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which are “spent” under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
