This is your opportunity to set up, implement, and manage a Project on a Fixed Term contract for 23 months that will address cancer inequalities at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This post will end at the end of 23 months with no Organisational continuation. This post is funded by Macmillan and we are looking for an individual who is an NMC Registered Nurse or AHP background to support the organisation and embed this as part of the Cancer Pathways Programme that commenced early in 2024. The main reach would be to understand the main inequalities faced across all our cancer pathways, with focused interventions within each MDT to reduce these. This is a challenging yet rewarding role, where you will see your ideas and plans come to life!
As a Project Lead, you will ensure the successful execution of projects within the agreed parameters for cost, scope, and quality. Your expertise will be essential in establishing robust processes and procedures, supporting key governance forums, and resolving operational issues. You'll work with Corporate Cancer, MDT Teams, Macmillan Charity, Cancer CNSs, Transformation Team, Cancer Data team and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
Additionally, you'll engage stakeholders, ensure project compliance with performance targets using HNAs and NCPES, and provide assurance on project plans and governance structures.
Main duties of the job
1. Working as a key member of the Corporate Cancer team and Cancer MDTs with the responsibility to develop a sustainable strategy and approach to the ongoing identification and addressing of inequalities across our pathways
2. Help identify, map/scope and challenge operational improvement initiatives linking with pre-existing trust and sector wide projects and programmes
3. To use the Transformation approach for the delivery of operational improvement projects, divided into 2 phases – Phase 1 – identifying inequalities at ICHT and Phase 2 – facilitating the dissemination of learning and addressing these inequalities
4. To identify, analyse, track and challenge benefits to be realised through operational improvement projects, e.g. financial, quality, operational, patient experience
5. To ensure a rigorous and disciplined approach to the way we report and ensure progress with projects with a focus on patients Living With and Beyond Cancer (LWBC) with learning to increase understanding of delivery of personalised care.
6. To lead the wider team in the preparation and facilitation of strategic meetings, workshops and training sessions, working alongside the Trust Lead Cancer Nurse and Head of Cancer Performance and Improvement

EDUCATION
Essential criteria
7. First degree or relevant occupational experience as a RN/AHP
8. NMC or AHP registration
9. Postgraduate qualification in relevant area or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
10. Management qualification or equivalent experience
11. Qualification in Change or Project Management
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Essential criteria
12. Project and programme management skills
13. Ability to identify and scope change initiatives
14. Able to produce reports using data that is comprehensive and meets expectation
15. Ability to solve complex and multi-dimensional issues. Able to react quickly when decisions are required urgently

EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
17. Significant experience working in NHS acute trust at senior level within the patient engagement or inequalities areas
18. Experience of developing and managing within collaborative and partnership arrangements
19. Proven track record of managing/leading complex programmes across large organisations spanning multiple sites/culture
20. Experience coaching or mentoring less experienced staff
