About the Role
Wiltshire Council is seeking an experienced and confident Social Worker Level 4 to join the Family & Children’s Support and Safeguarding Service. This permanent, full‑time role offers a salary between £49,264 and £51,854 per year, inclusive of a 15% market supplement.
This is an opportunity to work at senior practice level, providing leadership through high‑quality, relationship‑based practice. You will play a key role in safeguarding children, supporting families, and achieving lasting outcomes. The service is focused on prevention, protection, and partnership working, and you will collaborate with highly skilled professionals across social care and partner agencies.
On a day‑to‑day basis, you will hold complex case responsibility for children in need, those subject to child protection plans, and children in care. You will undertake statutory enquiries, assessments, and care planning, lead multi‑agency meetings, prepare detailed reports for conferences and court, and mentor less experienced colleagues. This role offers strong management support, reflective supervision, and access to ongoing training, ensuring your continued professional development.
Key Responsibilities
* Hold complex case responsibility for children in need, child protection, and children in care.
* Undertake high‑quality assessments, statutory enquiries, and care planning.
* Lead and contribute to multi‑agency meetings.
* Prepare detailed reports for conferences and court proceedings.
* Mentor and supervise less experienced colleagues.
* Contribute to service improvement and quality assurance activities.
* Ensure practice aligns with legislation, policy, and professional standards.
* Promote safeguarding and positive outcomes for children and families.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
* Significant post‑qualifying experience in children and families social work.
* Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and court processes.
* Ability to manage complex cases and provide professional leadership.
* Excellent communication, report writing, and analytical skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
* Educated to degree level.
* Relevant specialist post‑qualifying or postgraduate training.
* Salary: £49,264–£51,854 per year (inclusive of 15% market supplement)
