Job Overview and key duties (agile):
Working closely with UK Local Authorities and Business to Business customers, this role is an external, customer-facing sales position with a strong account management element. Operating within the Environmental division of IPL’s business portfolio, the role holder will manage and sell products into a customer base valued between £3-6 million. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining relationships with long-standing customers as well as forging new business partnerships with lapsed/dormant accounts. This is a hybrid role, with at least 3 days a week in the office, unless attending external customer meetings.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the plastics injection moulding industry across accounts of varying sizes.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Conduct regular business reviews with customers, discussing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and presenting new solutions.
* Research to identify and target new business opportunities.
* Develop and implement strategic business development plans to expand market presence and achieve sales targets.
* Proactively approach potential clients, understand their needs, present company capabilities, and negotiate contracts.
* Conduct product and service presentations to potential clients, showcasing the value proposition and benefits of partnering with IPL.
* Manage contract negotiations and renewals.
* Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to identify risks and opportunities.
* Provide accurate sales forecasts, reports, and updates to management, highlighting key account performance and future growth strategies.
* Collaborate with internal teams, such as engineering, planning, production, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth project execution and delivery.
* Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network and generate leads.
* Develop a growth strategy focused on sales targets and customer satisfaction.
* Prepare and review sales contracts.
* Maintain accurate customer records, quotations, and sales information.
* Provide after-sales support to customers.
* Support the wider Sales team and their accounts.

The Person
Desired Skills and Experience:
* Qualified to Degree level in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience as a business development manager, Account Manager, Sales executive, or relevant role.
* Experience in the plastics industry is advantageous.
* Experience delivering client-focused solutions.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective relationships internally and externally at all levels.
* Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
* Ability to collate, monitor, and report information effectively to stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM systems.
