There is an exciting opportunity to join our large Audiology department based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Adult Audiology Services across NHS Trusts. They will provide clinical expertise and leadership in Adult Audiology and deliver routine and specialist clinical services to adults. The postholder will work within a multidisciplinary team and ensure that resources are efficiently managed to meet service demands.
Reporting to the Head of Audiology Services, they will develop the Adult Audiology Service to align with national improvement actions, manage department accounts, and may deputise in the absence of the Head of Service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will oversee the operational performance of Audiology Services across two NHS Trusts and serve as a clinical lead on Adult Audiology services. They will deputise for the Head of Department and collaborate with key personnel in both Trusts, including General Managers, Consultants, Clinical Leads for ENT, and Operational Management teams. Developing close working relationships with ENT clinical teams, community Audiology teams, and specialised Audiology support teams is essential.

Job responsibilities
The primary aim of the Audiology Service is to provide a range of scientific, technical, therapeutic, rehabilitation, and clinical services aligned with the Trust's objectives. The department also has contractual arrangements with Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The post involves managing services across multiple locations, requiring travel, and ensuring high standards of clinical practice, staff supervision, financial management, and service development.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Managing daily operations of the Audiology Service across two Trusts, ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
2. Supervising and developing junior staff and students.
3. Managing department accounts and operational systems.
4. Promoting staff development and maintaining audit and CPD programmes.
5. Developing external service contracts and monitoring service agreements.
6. Responding to patient complaints and using feedback for service improvement.
7. Keeping abreast of developments in Audiology and leading service modernisation.
8. Ensuring safety, equality, confidentiality, and participation in research activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MSc in Audiology or equivalent
* Audiological Competence certificate or equivalent
* Membership of a professional body (RCCP/HCPC)
* Membership of the British Academy of Audiology or similar
Knowledge and Experience
* Extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of adult audiology and hearing aid technology
* Understanding of healthcare policy, CQC standards, and operational management
* Experience with physiological measurements or central auditory testing
* Senior management experience in Audiology, including HR issues
* Experience in clinical assessment, rehabilitation, and supervision
* Evidence of CPD and professional development
* Specialist experience in areas like Vestibular testing
* Budget management experience
