Lead the lifeline service that keeps an island connected.
This isn't a corporate desk role.
We're looking for a General Manager to lead Rathlin Ferry, a vital, regulated ferry service that passengers, residents, and businesses rely on every year.
If you're a calm, capable leader who thrives in real-world operations, values safety and people, and wants a role with genuine responsibility and purpose, this could be for you.
What you'll be doing
* Leading day-to-day ferry operations in a safety-critical environment
* Managing vessel crews and shore-based teams
* Owning the Safety Management System and supporting audits and inspections
* Working closely with regulators, stakeholders, and the local community
* Reporting directly to the Managing Director
Who this role suits
This role is ideal for someone who:
* Has management experience in a regulated or safety-critical sector (transport, maritime, infrastructure, utilities, aviation, etc.)
* Has a minimum of 2 years senior management experience.
* Is confident leading people and making operational decisions
* Understands accountability, compliance, and calm leadership under pressure
* May be stepping into a first General Manager role, or bringing GM experience from a related sector
Maritime experience is helpful but not essential — strong operational leadership is.
What we offer
* A competitive senior management package, aligned with the scope of the role
* Direct access to the Managing Director and a supportive leadership structure
Why join Rathlin Ferry?
* You'll lead a critical lifeline service with visible community impact
* You'll have real responsibility, not just a title
* You'll work in a small, committed organisation where decisions matter
* You'll help shape standards, culture, and how the service is delivered
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £29,876.35-£65,133.11 per year
Benefits:
* Company pension
