Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver award winning projects. You will work on major water and wastewater schemes throughout all phases of the project from feasibility through to construction, primarily in the UK water market. The organisation has an annual turnover surpassing £500 million and continues to grow through framework work in Wales with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (DCC).
You will work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and communities by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.
Responsibilities
* Develop and lead a multidisciplinary design team (electrical, mechanical, civil, and process) through the design for your projects/programme.
* Provide direction and oversight of project controls and ensure your team understands and complies with quality, programme, and cost requirements.
* Engage with other engineers, specialists, clients and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
* Manage interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and production of documentation.
* Challenge engineering solutions and delivery effectiveness to offer the client the best value.
* Apply design standards and maintain knowledge of Client/industry standards; challenge Client specifications when appropriate and defend solutions to complex problems.
* Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
* Lead development of affordable and low carbon solutions, including management of opportunities and risks.
* Act as technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews across teams.
* Deliver detailed designs to meet construction needs and client acceptance, while managing cost and programme.
* Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions across design, construction and beyond.
* Supervise and mentor Graduates and Engineers to develop their knowledge and skills.
* Engage positively with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to achieving aims.
* Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems.
What you’ll need
* Degree in Engineering
* Chartered or Incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience
* Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects
* Experience delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards
* Experience of the Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015
* Strong technical knowledge in your discipline and appreciation of other disciplines
* Effective communication with team members and stakeholders
* Methodical approach to problem solving
* Ability to deliver results within short timeframes, prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently
* Proactive and pragmatic approach
* Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
