Join to apply for the Assistant Site Manager role at The Construction Index Ltd. The role is with Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. The Scotland East division is recruiting an Assistant Site Manager to join the Division’s Construction team. The development is based in the Lothians.
There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway. This role reports to the Construction Manager and assists with managing all aspects of a construction development site, ensuring that work is safe, efficient, and cost effective, while delivering high quality and customer service within the timescales.
Principal Accountabilities
* Support the Site Manager with the day-to-day running of the development and provide clear direction to those on site regarding responsibilities and targets.
* Assist with management and implementation of health and safety procedures, working closely with Bellway Health and Safety Managers; ensure that all aspects of health and safety are followed.
* Motivate, support and manage directly employed site staff, providing toolbox talks, training, coaching, and support to improve performance.
* Maintain site presentation to the required standard at all times.
* Support the Site Manager to deliver production requirements in accordance with relevant technical and planning documentation and any additional instructions.
* Fully conform to building regulations and warranty providers’ requirements (NHBC, LABC Services).
* Assist the Site Manager with producing accurate production/progress returns and ensure they are updated and shared with the Construction Manager and/or Construction Director as requested.
* Maintain adequate site records including Site Managers reports, labour requirements, plant, materials, site inductions and health and safety records.
* Inspect and ensure remedial work is completed ahead of NHBC key stage inspections.
Experience, Qualifications and Training
* Experience of working as an Assistant Site Manager with a high volume residential house builder.
* Experience of effectively managing teams.
* Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety and building legislation.
* GCSE Maths and English – Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
* Valid CSCS card (or equivalent).
* Valid SSSTS certificate.
* Valid First Aid certificate.
* Construction Management – HNC Level 4, HND desirable.
* Valid Scaffold Appreciation certificate desirable.
Skills and Aptitude
* Effective communication and listening skills.
* Good administration skills.
* Works effectively to deadlines and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Proficient IT skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
