We are currently looking to recruit a Solicitor to join a busy Crime Team based in Wallsend. The ideal candidate will have experience in criminal law and be looking to handle their own caseload, providing expert advice and representation to clients across the criminal justice system. While a minimum of 3 years PQE is preferred, we welcome applications from candidates with slightly less experience who are eager to grow in this area.

Reporting to the Head of Department, you will:
5. Provide accurate, practical legal advice to both new and existing clients.
6. Manage your own caseload, ensuring files are maintained accurately and in line with data protection regulations.
7. Represent clients in police stations, Magistrates’ Courts, and Crown Courts.
8. Draft legal documents, review evidence, plan investigations, and build compelling defences.
9. Support the team’s Partner on a variety of cases.
10. Contribute to business development initiatives to help raise the profile of yourself, the team, and the firm.
11. Work towards monthly financial targets, including billing and chargeable hours.
Key Skills & Experience:
12. Qualified solicitor or experienced fee earner with experience in Criminal Law.
13. Police Station Accreditation and Duty Solicitor qualification desirable.
14. Higher Court advocacy experience is a plus, though not essential.
15. Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload while balancing non-casework responsibilities.
16. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
17. Commitment to compliance, accurate record keeping, and efficient billing practices.
18. Collaborative approach, working effectively with other fee earners and support staff.
19. A willingness to engage with business development and contribute to the growth of the department.
20. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
