Safe and Sound support children, young people and families affected by child exploitation. This role is part of their prevention and diversion work.
Main purpose of role
Working with young people and their communities to provide a safe place and opportunities for them to develop all aspects of their lives.
Provide a variety of activities for young people and their communities supporting them to access all aspects of the extended programme of events. This will include activities in Derby, external trips and other events.
Support the provision of a pro-active outreach service to raise children and young people's awareness of exploitation and wider safety.
You are responsible for ensuring that you adhere to the safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
The role will involve being a front-line representative for Safe and Sound, its vision, mission, and services to a broad range of stakeholders. This role comes with high levels of planning, co-ordinating and safeguarding.
Main duties
Outreach
· Support the delivery of street-based work in Derby, South Derbyshire and Erewash to young people who are at risk of being exploited.
· Prepare the van and review risk assessments before and after each outreach session.
· Provide support to volunteers during outreach sessions.
· Engage with children and young people during outreach sessions, and where necessary, signpost/refer them into services and support appropriate to their needs, including Safe & Sound.
· Consider safeguarding and child protection issues when engaging with young people and follow Safe & Sound's safeguarding policy, code of conduct and procedures.
· Ensure work is effectively recorded and monitored and produce written reports as requested.
· Be the point of contact and team lead in absence of youth/outreach worker.
· Provide detailed overview of each session to other professionals.
Youth Activities
· Create a schedule of activities for the youth settings in Derby, look at different things we can do that will attract young people
· Update the flyers on an ongoing basis with the events that are coming up at the clubs
· Plan and support to visit schools to raise awareness of the Youth clubs
· Promote the youth clubs on the outreach sessions
· Pass on social media information to line manager who can promote on a regular basis
· Ensure monthly questionnaires are completed to understand what it is the young people would like to do
· Report at the team meeting and revise activities to meet need, create weekly session plans prior to youth club starting so everyone knows what activities are planned

General
· Contribute to the development of service policies, protocols, guidelines and strategies within area of practice, as necessary.
· Participate in team meetings and, where necessary, young people's review sessions.
· Adhere to all Safe & Sound policies and procedures.
· This post will involve flexible working in order to meet the needs of the project, including evening and occasional weekend work.
· To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the management and outreach team.
