Location: Hemel Hempstead
Salary: £43,000 - £51,000 per annum (£21.00 per hour + £3.50 per hour shift allowance)
Shift: 6PM - 4AM, Monday to Thursday
Overtime: Available at enhanced rates

This opportunity sits within a high-performance precision engineering facility producing advanced components for the aerospace sector. You will join a strong, collaborative team in a modern, well-maintained facility, working on small to medium batch production of medium to high complexity.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role. Your main responsibility will be setting and operating CNC grinding machines (Studer), ensuring machining processes are optimised for accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.
Key Responsibilities
Set, operate, and manage CNC grinding equipment (Studer)
Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as required
Perform in-process quality checks to tight aerospace tolerances
Interpret engineering drawings with precision
Maintain safe working practices and adhere to production standards
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality output
Support basic machine maintenance and care
Ensure correct information is logged on tooling sheets, including ensuring that any amendments are updated accordingly
Recall saved programs and ensure any amendments to programs are approved and correctly saved
Ensure components submitted for first-off inspection meet drawing requirements
Where practical, pre-set ready for the next job
Experience and Skills Required
Experience setting and operating Studer CNC grinders and manual machines
Some understanding of mathematical concepts required (e.g. trigonometry)
Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
Commercial awareness and professionalism
A good standard of general education with basic computer and numerical skills
Astute attention to detail with steady hand-eye coordination
Good organisational skills, methodical and accurate
Good communication skills (written & verbal)
Ability to work to tight tolerances without supervision
Ability to work under pressure and problem-solve
Demonstrates integrity in all aspects of the role
A flexible approach to the role to meet changing business demands, which may include overtime to suit production plans and priorities
Ability to work on own initiative but willing to work as part of a team to achieve divisional objectives
