Training Coordinator
Overview:
The Training Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of all training activities across the site. This includes maintaining accurate and up-to-date training records, ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and compliance training requirements are fully implemented and adhered to.
The role plays a key part in building a skilled, compliant, and engaged workforce - supporting operational excellence, colleague development, and compliance with food safety, quality, and health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Training Management
* Develop, coordinate, and schedule all site training activities, including onboarding, refresher, compliance, and role-specific training.
* Maintain the site training matrix, ensuring all training records are accurate and up to date for permanent, temporary, and contract employees.
* Track training completion rates, identify gaps, and proactively collaborate with department managers to ensure compliance.
* Organise and facilitate internal and external training sessions, managing bookings, attendance, and materials.
* Support the induction process by ensuring new starters receive relevant training in line with site and company standards.
Compliance & Documentation
* Manage and monitor the review and implementation of SOPs and SSOW, ensuring documentation reflects current best practices, legal requirements, and operational standards.
* Ensure all mandatory and compliance training (e.g., Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, Manual Handling, Health & Safety) is delivered and properly recorded.
* Provide training documentation and evidence during internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with BRCGS, customer, and legal standards.
* Work with the Technical, H&S, and HR teams to ensure training aligns with wider business policies and audit readiness
Stakeholder Engagement
* Partner with department managers, supervisors, and team leaders to identify individual and team training needs.
* Act as the main point of contact for all training-related queries, offering guidance and support on training requirements and processes.
* Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, H&S, and HR teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness of training delivery across departments.
* Build strong relationships with external training providers, ensuring value for money and quality service delivery.
Continuous Improvement
* Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and observation of on-the-job performance.
* Identify opportunities to improve training content, methods, and delivery, including the use of digital tools and blended learning approaches.
* Support the development of a training culture focused on safety, quality, and performance.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, aligning training with business objectives and performance targets.

Competencies & Skills
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in a training, learning and development, or HR coordination role within a manufacturing or food production environment.
* Strong administrative and organisational skills, with experience managing training matrices and maintaining accurate records.
* Knowledge and understanding of SOPs, SSOW, and regulatory compliance standards within a food manufacturing setting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels.
* High level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and familiarity with HR or training management systems.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities within set deadlines.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
* Formal qualification in Training or Learning & Development, such as a Level 3 Award in Education & Training (PTLLS) or equivalent.
* Food Safety or Health & Safety qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Food Safety, IOSH Managing Safely).
* Experience supporting BRCGS or customer audits related to training and compliance.
* Experience designing or implementing training materials or e-learning content.
