Job Title: CAD Technician – Renewables/Solar PV (Freelance / Temp-to-Perm) Location: Cardiff Contract Type: Freelance / Temporary to Permanent Sector: Renewables / Solar Energy Overview: We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established renewables company based in Cardiff, specialising in solar PV installations. They are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join their team initially on a freelance or temporary basis, with the view to move into a permanent role for the right candidate. This position will primarily focus on producing single line diagrams, schematics, and electrical layout drawings to support solar PV design and installation projects. Key Responsibilities: Create and modify detailed CAD drawings for solar PV systems, including single line diagrams, schematics, and general arrangements. Work closely with engineers and project managers to deliver accurate and timely drawings. Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, client specifications, and relevant regulations. Update and maintain project documentation and drawing registers. Provide technical support to project teams where required. Assist with producing layouts for project proposals and tender submissions. Requirements: Proficient in AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD software). Previous experience producing single line diagrams and electrical schematics, ideally within the renewables or electrical sectors. Strong understanding of electrical design principles. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently. Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving. Experience working on solar PV projects is highly desirable but not essential. Relevant qualifications in CAD design, electrical engineering, or a related field would be beneficial.
