At the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), our mission is to regulate in a way that builds trust and confidence in Scottish charities, holds them to account, and strengthens their ability to positively contribute to society. We’re looking for someone who can work with our stakeholders and the charities we regulate to develop the policies that will help us do this. As Senior Manager Policy and Improvement, you will work to make sure that OSCR is trusted by policymakers, stakeholders and charities as an authoritative and honest source of policy input on regulation and the sector. With your strong networks you will make sure OSCR is always aware of developments in its policy environment and always has an early opportunity to engage with them. You will help to develop OSCR’s next corporate strategy and ensure it is underpinned by strong engagement across OSCR’s stakeholders Responsibilities Responsibilities Develop strong awareness of national policy context by building strong, diverse networks with policy professionals, key advisors and opinion-formers across Parliament, public bodies, the charity sector and other stakeholders and lead your team to develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the economic, social, political and legislative environment in which OSCR and charities in Scotland operate. Share information and intelligence with OSCR colleagues to ensure they have the awareness of policy and legislative change they need to deliver effectively. Work in collaboration with colleagues and the Board to ensure that appropriate and inclusive engagement is a feature of all OSCR process and policy development. Work with other senior managers and OSCR’s Board to identify requirements for guidance or policy interventions and commission input from colleagues and/or external sources whilst being accountable for the collaborative delivery of policy products. Promote sector engagement by building appropriate and agile channels for OSCR to engage with charities, especially small and hard-to-reach ones. Work with the sector to help identify regulatory risks and develop policy, guidance and process changes solutions that will help OSCR and the sector to address these risks. Identify and develop training, guidance and development opportunities to help the sector govern itself more effectively, increase compliance with charity law and increase public trust and confidence; identify opportunities to work with other organisations who support charities develop and deliver these to make the most effective use of OSCR and other bodies’ resources. Ensure that your team has the capability, skills and capacity required to help OSCR to deliver on its policy and improvement ambitions. Work as part of OSCR’s Extended Leadership Team to help assure delivery of OSCR’s Business and Operational Plan aims.
