A leading packaging manufacturer in the Scunthorpe area is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their team on a Panama shift pattern.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Salary
£19.50 per hour + Company bonus (Circa £46,000 per annum)
The key responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician role
* Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, assemblies, and components.
* Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on equipment, including basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Conduct basic fault analysis and identify early signs of mechanical failure.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and industry standards.
* Use and maintain relevant measurement instruments and mechanical tools.
* Participate in scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
* Support the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) practices and other operational systems.
* Inspect and verify the accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies.
* Collaborate with other departments and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
* Assist operators in routine machinery upkeep and minor maintenance tasks.
* Support training efforts and cooperate with external personnel such as agency workers and contractors.
* Consistently wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, regulations, and policies.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, BRC, and other relevant standards adopted by the company.
* Dress in accordance with applicable Health & Safety requirements.
* Perform additional tasks of a similar nature as reasonably assigned and in line with the role.
The key requirements
* Proven experience in a similar maintenance engineering role within fast-paced manufacturing environments (e.g., Automotive, Food, FMCG).
* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems such as hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, etc.
* Ability to read technical drawings.
* Willingness to work Panama shifts.
* NVQ Level 3 qualification or time-served apprenticeship.
