Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and dedicated multi-disciplinary team based at North Devon District Hospital. The post holder will be based on the 16-bedded Adult Acute Mental Health Ward and will be responsible for completing evidence based assessments and interventions with our service users across a 7-day service. The post holder will be working in a friendly and supportive environment, with a focus on providing the very best patient care in a locality combining sea, moor, history and opportunity.
Responsibilities
* Work as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary inpatient team on a sixteen-bedded ward with patients experiencing a range of mental health diagnoses.
* Assess and treat patients both individually and using group work in a variety of environments including the patient\'s home.
* Manage a defined caseload of patients with complex mental health needs; contribute to team and service development; liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies.
* Develop knowledge of relevant legislation, occupational therapy models and interventions for mental illness; demonstrate flexible, compassionate and patient-centred care; work at a good pace and independently when required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Some mental health experience
* BSc Occupational Therapy
Desirable
* Basic therapeutic skills (e.g., CBT, motivational interviewing)
* Fieldwork Practice educators course
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of OT principles and theories; good personal boundaries; professional judgement and clinical reasoning skills
* Able to work independently and use initiative; basic IT skills
* Desirable: knowledge of the MOHO and associated assessments; group work skills
