Overview
A 12‑month fixed‑term team leader role in the Cancer Services referrals team, with a secondment option for internal candidates. The role leads senior admin officers in ensuring effective delivery of 0‑7‑day bookings for patients referred for suspected cancer.
Responsibilities
* Act as a senior point of contact with wider Trust groups to review daily capacity demand for Urgent Suspected Cancer, identify gaps and ensure capacity is met.
* Manage all enquiries, resolve them promptly, inform relevant personnel and maintain appropriate records.
* Support the daily delivery of bookings for Urgent Suspected Cancer appointments.
* Ensure documentation is current and orderly, report exceptional circumstances, chair team meetings and attend meetings as required, including daily huddles and morning/afternoon booking updates.
* Provide support to administration staff: demonstrate and explain practices and procedures, deliver training and development, ensure high standards, cross‑cover, supervise and manage weekly cover plans and leave planning.
* Manage a team of staff responsible for recruitment, induction, annual leave, sickness, performance and annual PDR, keeping all tracking and data updated.
* Contribute to patient and business improvement agendas by undertaking project work, collecting and reporting data in Trust IT systems (e.g., Revenue Cycle, EPR, Powerchart, E‑Referral, Insite, Blue Prism).
* Suggest, implement and maintain efficient office management systems and procedures, manage time, cover and leave arrangements, communicate with relevant personnel and ensure action points are completed.
* Exercise independent judgment and initiative to resolve problems, including telephone complaints and errors with administration staff.
Conditions
Secondment will be considered for internal candidates. If successful, approval must be obtained from the current line manager to accept the offer.
