This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to work within the new specialist Intestinal Failure service at Freeman Hospital.
Are you a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated OT who is looking for a new challenge? The successful candidate will be integral in setting up a high quality, coordinated rehabilitation service to this complex patient group?
You will work alongside our Physiotherapy and Dietetic colleagues to provide a holistic, patient centred rehabilitation programme.

Main duties of the job
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a sound knowledge of the role of OT with in the acute setting also being committed to robust evaluation of the service.
You will be expected to carry out complex assessments and formulate smart rehab goals in conjunction with other members of the MDT. You will gain a sound understanding of the complexities of this patient group and the challenges to discharge planning.
You will be a senior member of the OT surgery team within the Trust and will be expected to provide support and supervision to other members of the team including students on placement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
 * To provide a high standard of occupational therapy care to non‑complex, complex and highly complex patients within specialty evidencing high‑level problem solving, reasoning skills and independence of judgement.
 * The as Advanced OT will be a highly specialist practitioner and is the clinical lead for the Occupational Therapy Service within specialty providing highly specialist knowledge within the Trust and externally to therapists and other health care professionals from secondary and primary care across the region.

KNOWLEDGE
 * In‑depth clinical knowledge of medical/neurological conditions and their effect on occupational performance (master’s level equivalent)
 * Highly developed understanding of OT process within acute setting.
 * Extensive knowledge of a range of disability equipment
 * Extensive knowledge of eligibility criteria and procedures/policies relevant to disability equipment, minor housing adaptations
 * Highly specialist knowledge of moving and handling legislation and knowledge of current moving and handling best practice and associated equipment
 * Excellent understanding of professional ethics and their application into practice
 * Good knowledge of clinical governance
 * Evidence of CPD
 * In‑depth knowledge of health and social care policy, risk assessment and management
 * Knowledge of undertaking research and audit projects
 * Knowledge of team dynamics and team building

QUALIFICATION
 * Degree/Diploma in OT State registered with Health Professions Council
 * Member of BAOT
