Job Title: OFSTED Registered Children's Home Manager
Location: Acocks Green (B27)
Salary: £65,000 per annum and market-leading bonus package
Hours: Full time, minimum 40 hours per week
Shift pattern: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00, with on-call shifts over the weekend

As a company we are looking to expand, and have identified a beautiful 4-bedded property in Acocks Green, B27. In your role as the OFSTED Registered Children's Home Manager, you will have the choice as to whether the home is registered an LD or EBD service and the freedom to make decisions on the decoration of the home
There is a strong head office team to support in your role. The Director is a clinically qualified doctor, who acts as our therapeutic modelling lead and offers input and support with clear governance structures and risk management meetings. The RI is supportive, dedicated and available. He makes weekly visits to our homes and is passionate about improving standards and achieving the best possible outcome for the children in our care. There is also back-office support through our HR manager, recruitment officer and automated finance system. The HR manager has a wealth of experience in residential childcare, having previously been an OFSTED Registered Children's Home Manager herself, and she is available to support with any personnel issues. The recruitment officer takes the lead on finding potential candidates, completing safer recruitment checks, and is able to support on any interviews.

The Role:
As an OFSTED Registered Children's Home Manager you will play a vital role in delivering a service which encompasses all areas of the SCCIF to a 'GOOD' or higher standard, ensuring the smooth operation of the home and the staff team. Your key responsibilities will include:
Leadership and Management: supervise, support and mentor staff to ensure that high professional standards are maintained across all aspects of the service.
Safeguarding: ensure that all children and staff get to live and work in a safe environment, as well as acting as the designated safeguarding lead. Monitor health & safety; report incidents and accidents; and complete all risk assessment processes.
Care Planning and Monitoring: act in the best interests of all children, respecting their privacy and dignity, taking into account their wishes and feelings. Meet all needs of the children and work with a multi-disciplinary team approach to monitor and evaluate the implementation of tailored care plans.
Administration: ensure safe levels of staffing at all times, including on-call, rotas, night and sickness absence cover and off-site excursions. Manage all data and recording processes within your home and have the ability to share this information when requested. Complete regular audits and reviews of all processes as necessary and manage delegated budgets, ensuring all Insight Care Group financial policies are followed correctly.
Compliance: ensure all current legislative requirements are met and any relevant changes are relayed to senior managers. Promote equality, diversity and inclusion within the home in accordance with statutory requirements.
Leadership: day-to-day line management of deputy manager(s) and team leaders, and act as a leader to the team as a whole. Consistently promote best practices within the home and ensure that the work of the staff team is completed to a high standard. Ensure that appropriate supervisions of all staff are in place
On-Call: Understand your part to play in keeping the young people and staff safe outside of management hours – will be on a rota basis and determined in advance where possible.
Key Requirements:
Education and Certifications: GCSE English and Maths; RQF level 4 in residential childcare, or equivalent; Level 5 in leadership and management for residential childcare; Valid UK driving licence; Recognised award in dealing with challenging behaviours (e.g. CPI or TeamTeach); OFSTED approval as a registered manager.
Experience: At least 2 years' significant management experience in a care setting within the past 5 years, at a standard assessed as 'GOOD' in all aspects of the job; A minimum 4 years' experience of working effectively with children with learning difficulties/challenging behaviour.
Knowledge: knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, including, but not limited to: Children Act 1989, Children's Home Regulations 2015, SCCIF, Children & Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1979, Equality Act 2010, Prevent, OFSTED inspection practices and requirements.
Skills: punctuality and reliability; effective communication; ability to produce accurate and legible written material; ability to manage budgets; ability to manage time effectively and adapt when the situation requires; ability to ensure policies and procedures are translated into practice; ability to assess the performance of your team and respond accordingly; ability to coach, mentor and deliver training to staff.
