The IPS laboratory on the BRI site receives specimen samples ranging from category A to E.
Responsibilities
As an Advanced Specialist BMS with a Diploma in Expert Practice in Histological Dissection, you will work with Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and the clinical team, dealing with specimen types across sub‑specialist areas such as gastrointestinal, gynaecological, head and neck, osteoarticular and urology. You will act as the expert dissector in a range of histopathology sub‑specialities and achieve competency in the dissection of category A, B and C specimens.
Additional duties include liaison with consultant staff, advanced/expert practitioners, self‑directed learning, and support for the use and maintenance of documentation such as SOPs and audits.
Qualifications
* Excellent knowledge of histopathology.
* HCPC registration.
* IBMS Specialist Portfolio or equivalent.
* IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histopathological Dissection.
* Minimum of three years post‑registration.
* Member/Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
