An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Directorate for a Team Manager for Ty Einon Community Mental Health Team covering Area 3 in Swansea.

The successful candidate will need to be energised, dynamic and can evidence they can develop and lead a service to in order meet the needs of people requiring mental health care.

Main duties of the job

The Team Manager will take responsibility for the delivery and management of the health staff within the CMHT. The team manager will have overall accountability and responsibility for the direct delivery of care within their designated area.

The Team Manager will be responsible for providing line management and supervision of registered and unregistered staff within the context of a multi-disciplinary service. The manager will support staff to deliver evidence based mental health care to clients in a range of community settings.

The Team Manager will work towards effective communication with other community services, primary care services, social services and inpatient services among others.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Team Manager will offer professional advice, knowledge and expertise to relevant statutory and 3rd sector services. Key to the success of the post will be effective working arrangements, developing partnership working and incorporating an integrated approach to the management of services.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Registered Professional including RMN, OT, Social Worker, Psychologist
2. ‘Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by post graduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses plus further specialist training to masters equivalent level
3. Continued professional development demonstrated by specialist knowledge and experience. Significant knowledge/skills in development within Primary Care Services. Application of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 with Safeguarding policies and procedures, understand the Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
4. An understanding of the Clinical Governance agenda and the promotion of evidence-based practice have excellent knowledge of risk assessment and be able to manage risk effectively and safely

7. Knowledge of and contribute to the implementation of local and national guidance as appropriate

8. Significant experience at Band 6 or equivalent professional experience of working in Mental Health Services
9. Demonstrate experience of effective working within a multiagency / multi-disciplinary setting
10. Experience of being involved in the development of new services
11. Experience/knowledge of health and/or social care assessment

12. Experience of managing people through periods of chang

Essential criteria

13. Ability to demonstrate a high level of professional autonomy, demonstrate effective leadership skills, assess, plan, monitor and review care.
14. Excellent written and oral communication / interpersonal skills to develop and maintain good communication and relationships when dealing with complex, sensitive and often contentious issues.
15. The ability to influence service developments and service changes, manage resources effectively & analyse information and make judgements when dealing with highly complex facts
16. Have the ability to motivate and enthuse the multidisciplinary team to deliver a high-quality service

Desirable criteria

17. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
18. IT literate and be able to use systems such as PIMS+, email etc in everyday work
