Wye Valley Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Oral Surgeon. This is a full-time position involving work at the Trust and the Dental Access Centre.
We are looking for a colleague to join our established team who can demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with consultant colleagues, GPs, and dentists. There is no on-call commitment.
The department is part of the Surgical Division, which includes ENT, Orthopaedics, Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, and Ophthalmology. The Trust supports orthodontics, oral surgery, restorative, and special care dentistry as part of the dental and surgical MDT care, with clinical support staff in place.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will develop governance links beyond the organization, such as with Worcester Acute Maxillo-Facial Dept and Birmingham Dental Hospital, to ensure high-quality patient care. The appointee will join the Dental Specialties Team, responsible for the care of oral surgery patients, and undertake managerial duties related to patient care and department management. Participation in all departmental activities is expected.

Person Specification
Professional Qualifications
* Entry on GDC Oral Surgery specialist register via CCT (proposed date within 6 months), CESR, or European Community Rights
* NHS Performer number
* Full GDC registration with a license to practice
* FDS (Oral Surgery) or equivalent
* Membership in Oral Surgery (MOralSurg) or equivalent
* Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (MFDS) or equivalent
Clinical Experience
* Experience in general and paediatric oral surgery, including management of chronic facial pain
* Training in sedation as part of oral surgery practice
* Experience in diagnostic and practical restorative dentistry
* Subspecialty interest, e.g., management of medically compromised patients, special care, or chronic facial pain
Clinical Skills
* Skills and experience suitable for a consultant-level post in oral surgery
* Ability to assume full clinical responsibility
Clinical Knowledge
* Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice
* Subspecialty interest in managing special care and medically compromised patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
