The role
Executive Assistant Principal’s Office Permanent, full time (35 hours per week) Salary: £29,686 per annum We are: looking for an Executive Assistant (Quality Assurance) to join the Principal’s Office at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, providing high‑level executive support to the Deputy Principal. We are a small and incredibly busy department: The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is an internationally recognised institution and the only performing arts conservatoire in the UK that offers training across all major performing arts disciplines. The Principal’s Office operates at the heart of the organisation, supporting senior leadership, governance and strategic decision‑making in a fast‑paced higher education environment. You are: someone who enjoys a demanding, intense and fast‑paced role, providing comprehensive administrative, secretarial and organisational support to the Deputy Principal across a broad portfolio including learning and teaching, quality assurance and standards, Fair Access, research and institutional support services. You are confident managing complex diaries, coordinating high‑level meetings and committees, producing accurate and detailed minutes and handling sensitive information with discretion. You remain calm under pressure, work autonomously and contribute positively as part of the wider Conservatoire team. You will: be highly organised, proactive and experienced in supporting senior or executive‑level staff in a complex environment. You will bring excellent minute‑taking and written communication skills, strong digital capability (including Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams) and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Essential to the role is knowledge of quality assurance processes in Higher Education, including Scottish regulatory frameworks such as the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC), along with experience of working with committees and complex governance structures. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, working flexibly to meet deadlines, building effective working relationships across teams and supporting budget, travel and expense management.
