Social Worker - Court Team

At Cheshire East Council, we have a dedicated Court Team, and we are looking for a high-calibre, experienced Senior Social Worker to join us on our journey in achieving excellent outcomes for our children through timely and effective care proceedings.
This is a leadership role within a busy, fast-paced team and will suit someone with extensive experience in court work or statutory child protection services. The position requires strong organisational skills, the ability to work autonomously under pressure, and a commitment to supporting colleagues to deliver outstanding practice.

About the role:
1. Provide support and guidance within the Court Team, supporting colleagues to achieve best practice in care proceedings.
2. Oversee complex cases and ensure timely progression to achieve permanence for children.
3. Contribute to service development and quality assurance, promoting high standards of practice.
4. Prepare and review evidence-based reports and statements for court hearings.
5. Work collaboratively with legal professionals, social care teams, and external agencies to ensure effective multi-professional working.
6. Benefit from reflective supervision, training opportunities, and a supportive management structure.

About you:
7. You’ll be an experienced Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
8. You’ll have proven leadership skills and the ability to mentor and support others.
9. You’ll demonstrate excellent knowledge of care proceedings, child protection legislation, and court processes.
10. You’ll be highly organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
11. You’ll be ambitious for children and committed to achieving positive outcomes.
12. You’ll have strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of professionals.
