We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic salaried GP to join our team under the ARRS framework for 4 to 6 sessions per week. This role is ideal for a recently qualified GP looking to develop their career in a supportive environment.

Main duties of the job

This role is ideal for a recently qualified GP looking to develop their career in a supportive environment.

In line with NHS England's ARRS guidelines for 2025/26:

Must have obtained a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) within the last two years at the point of recruitment.

Should not have been previously substantively employed as a GP in general practice.

Provide high-quality, patient-centred clinical care.

Participate in clinical governance activities, including audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to integrated care pathways.

Support the training and development of medical students and other healthcare professionals.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of practice services and patient outcomes.

An interest in Medicines Management and associated projects.

Oakwood Medical Centre is a forward-thinking, patient-centred practice situated in the heart of Barnton, Northwich (Cheshire). The Practice population is around 9,000 with a mixture of rural and urban geography. We pride ourselves on our supportive and collaborative team environment.

Our multidisciplinary team includes:

4 GP Partners

2 Practice Nurses & Level 3 Healthcare Assistant

Practice Pharmacist & Pharmacy Technician

Senior Care Coordinator, Care Coordinator

Experienced administration staff

Shared Social Prescribers, Paramedics, OTs (across Northwich PCN)

We are part of the Northwich Primary Care Network (PCN) and actively participate in various projects, collaborating with local service providers to enhance patient care.

Our PCN is committed to digital innovation under the regional Digital & Data Strategy 202225, with planned pilots in clinician-facing decision tools and smarter working.

We actively participate in the Cheshire & Merseyside Medicines Management projects partnering with local teams to improve consistency and safety in prescribing.

We are a Total Triage Practice and would expect that the successful candidate will participate in this process.

We are supportive of staff who want to develop further in areas of special interest that align with the Practice goals and vision.


Job description


Job responsibilities

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the contract.

Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Primary Key Responsibilities:

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Effective management of long-term conditions

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

Prepare and complete the revalidation process

Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement


Person Specification


Experience


Essential

* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Experience of continued professional development
* Experience of QOF and clinical audit
* Experience of chronic disease management
* Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
* General understanding of the primary care contract
* EMIS proficiency.
* Knowledge of PCN DES, NICE, and ARRS framework.


Desirable

* Experience of medicines management
* Experience of ICB initiatives

* Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
* Strong IT skills
* Clear, polite telephone manner
* Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
* Effective time management (planning and organising)
* Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Problem solving and analytical skills
* Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
* Experience with audit and able to lead audit programmes
* Experience with clinical risk management


Qualifications


Essential

* MBBS or equivalent medical degree, MRCGP.
* Full GMC registration, on Performers List.
* CCT awarded within the last 2 years; no previous substantive salaried post (required for ARRS funding)
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
* Evidence of CPD engagement.
