The role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative, solution-focused, resilient individual to join our System Operations team as a System Operational Readiness Senior Lead Engineer. This is a new position with a focus on supporting System Operations to deliver on our purpose to ‘Transform the power system for future generations.’
· Lead on the development and implementation of complex projects, both technical and commercial, designed to achieve regulated targets and meet stakeholder needs in line with company requirements.
· Implement and deliver significant change as specified under the Shaping our Electricity Future framework. This includes developing and implementing critical operational programmes to support the power system from 2-4 years out up to real-time operation, whilst managing emerging operational risks.
· Support the System Operational Readiness Lead to engage, influence, and coordinate activity with key customers and stakeholders to deliver on business strategy and ensure appropriate solutions are identified. This includes working with industry, NIE Networks, generators, Regulatory Authorities, and other areas within SONI and the EirGrid Group to deliver on core remit in a cost-effective and transparent manner.
· Deliver business objectives, overcoming challenges and technical issues.
· Lead key operational work streams, coordinating the work of others.
What we’re looking for:
· Engineering degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience.
· Excellent knowledge of electrical power systems and awareness of energy targets and decarbonisation ambitions.
· Demonstrated experience in leading projects and planning for successful delivery.
· Demonstrated experience in complex analysis such as power system modelling using software like STNET, LSAT, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or Plexos.
· Knowledge of industry, environment, and evolving energy policy.
· Experience with EMS, MMS, LSAT, EDIL, and RMT is desirable.
