<div><h3>Nurse Practitioner - Memory and Dementia Team (HMP)</h3><p>Closing date: 24 June 2026</p><p>Band 7 Nurse Practitioner in our Memory and Dementia Pathway based at HMP Stafford, Staffordshire.</p><p>We are recruiting an NHS band 7 mental health nurse practitioner to work in a prison environment, providing specialist diagnostic assessment for dementia and following this up with specialist treatment and monitoring, alongside existing care services within the prison. The role will also involve delivering a programme of training related to dementia care to staff within the prison network of Staffordshire.</p><p>Applicants must possess knowledge and skills to work in the memory and dementia speciality, working with service users affected by all types of dementia, including challenging and complex needs associated with dementia diagnoses. Candidates should have a non‑medical prescribing qualification, or be currently working towards its completion or willing to undertake this training.</p><p>Applicants will be part of the South Staffordshire Memory and Dementia service but working clinically in a designated prison environment.</p><p>Applicants will be responsible for the delivery of a range of high‑level specialist assessments, identifying risks and management plans.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Delivery of high standard nursing care to individuals referred to the Memory & Dementia Service (HMP Dove Gate)</li><li>Provide specialist mental health nursing assessment, care planning and evaluation of those experiencing dementia</li><li>Work in partnership with fellow team members and internal/external partners</li><li>Undertake own professional development and comply with mandatory training</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Qualified/registered mental health nurse</li><li>Non‑medical prescriber</li><li>Evidence of professional updating and development within mental health services for older people</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience delivering therapeutic interventions to clients with dementia and their carers</li><li>Experience working with more complex and challenging needs in dementia care</li><li>Experience working with a range of statutory, non‑statutory agencies</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.</p><h3>Contact</h3><p>For further information or to arrange a visit, please contact Matthew Hocking at matthew.hocking@mpft.nhs.uk.</p></div>
