Our Care team provides registered care services throughout South Wales at dozens of locations and for a wide range of customers. Pobl means ‘People’ and people really are at the heart of everything we do. A bit about the people we support in this services:
Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac, this one-of-a-kind service is home to five men and one woman with physical disabilities. Each person lives independently in their own self-contained ground floor flat, with the added comfort of a close-knit, supportive community and a welcoming on-site office.
You'll be working alongside these individuals to support their day-to-day independence, help build their skills, and assist with everyday activities, all while offering emotional support. Whether it’s heading to the gym, catching a football match, or even going surfing, no two days are quite the same!
The team here lives by the “do with, not do for” approach, which empowers the people we support to live life on their own terms. The impact of this approach has been incredibly positive, and as part of the team, you'll have the rewarding experience of seeing the difference you make every single day.
Cwmfelin Support Worker Testimonial
'I have worked as a Support Worker at Cwmfelin for three years. In that time I’ve seen the service evolve from a high intensity, home based support scheme, to supporting individuals to go out and participate in their local community and maximise their independence.
A typical day will start with providing hands on support and personal care so our individuals are able to get ready for the day ahead. Support to take medication is provided, then any active support needed to make breakfast and do any household chores. Our ethos is very much to provide support in order to enable our individuals to be as independent as possible, not to do the tasks for them.
Providing support to our individuals is the main part of our role, and the most rewarding. We provide regular support on a 1 to 1 basis, supporting our individuals to do the activities they choose. This can range from wheelchair rugby training (and tournaments), to going to the gym, going food shopping or visiting town to have food or do some banking. This ensures the people we support maintain their independence, use and feel part of their local community, and keep in control and live a fulfilled lives.
We are here to offer support and companionship when days are good and bad, and we are always available to listen when issues arise.
In short, Cwmfelin is more than a job, and it is very rewarding seeing changes and progress within both the individuals we support and the scheme as a whole'
