Join Barclays as a Data Management Design and Advisory Lead, where you will play a key role in shaping how data and records are governed across our global organisation. You will help design, embed, and evolve robust data management frameworks that support regulatory compliance, data quality, and trusted decision‑making across the bank.


Qualifications

* Data Management Design & Operating Model Leadership – Advanced expertise in data management principles, governance frameworks, and industry standards, with experience embedding sustainable capabilities that improve data quality, traceability, and compliance.
* Advisory, Consulting & Strategic Skills – Proven ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders, constructively challenge existing practices, and drive alignment across business, technology, and risk teams, often without direct authority.
* Stakeholder Management & Governance Facilitation – Experience partnering across business, technology, risk, and change functions to embed data management into delivery and operations through coaching, guidance, and reusable frameworks.


Additional Skills

* Communication & Influence – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for senior and technical audiences.
* Regulatory & Risk Exposure – Experience supporting regulatory engagement, audits, or risk and control assessments.
* Data Tooling Knowledge – Familiarity with data management tools such as metadata repositories, data lineage solutions, and data quality platforms.

This role will be based in our Glasgow Campus.


Purpose of the role

To develop, implement, and maintain effective governance frameworks for all data and records across the bank's global operations.


Accountabilities

* Development and maintenance of a comprehensive data and records governance framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
* Monitoring data quality and records metrics and compliance with standards across the organization.
* Identification and addressing of data and records management risks and gaps.
* Development and implementation of a records management programme that ensures the proper identification, classification, storage, retention, retrieval and disposal of records.
* Development and implementation of a data governance strategy that aligns with the bank's overall data management strategy and business objectives.
* Provision of Group wide guidance and training on Data and Records Management standard requirements.

They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
* Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
* Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
* Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
* Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
* Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
* Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
* Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
* Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
