We are currently looking for a talented and experienced Design Manager to join an expanding team on a series of exciting projects working with the UK’s leading developers, private investors, universities, and student accommodation providers.
In this role you will be reporting to the Technical Director and be part of a wider team to develop and maintain future client relationships and to assist with the successful delivery of projects in design stage.
About the Role:
Confidently interpret the clients design needs and the allotted design budgets, determining the likely duration of works based on scope and complexity.
Understand the limitations of what can be done with the various materials and manufacturing processes available and propose solutions or alternative options.
Demonstrate a strong ability to co-ordinate with other trades, understanding their limitations and the impact on the ff&e provision.
Oversee and undertake the production of project relevant drawings, room models/GAs which follow the quotation allowance produced as part of the tender.
Produce 3D models efficiently and accurately, to a high level of detail for implementation onto the drawing management library and be able to convey this to other members of the department.
Oversee various designs/graduate designers in their development and understanding of the role.
Produce accurate technical drawings to enable manufacture of the various parts as needed by the projects and maintain the drawing revision history.
Oversee the updating of the various drawing management documents to ensure quality control and the project status can be acquired quickly and assessed against deadlines.
Produce BoQs and high interrogate work done for accuracy and raise issues with the team.
Have a solid understanding of the software used and be looking to expand the understanding of the software.
Interpret information provided by external organisations and communicate any impacts on our own remit.
Actively seek meetings with the various stakeholders of the project to ensure communications are at the best they can be.
Undertake multiple projects simultaneously and see them through the various stages.
Assist the operations team with finding solutions/providing solutions where design changes and adaptations are required.
Concrete understanding of what the company can and can’t provide from an FF&E perspective.
Concrete understanding of all existing working practices and policies.
Ability to implement new policies that improve working practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with the Client/Architect & main contractor.About the Candidate:
Degree qualified in a STEM or design related subject OR relevant experience within the FF&E or furniture design sector.
Ability to communicate through hand drawing.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
A good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent communication skills (both spoken and written)
Confident telephone manner
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to deal with tasks simultaneously.
Experienced with a 3D Modelling software such as Solidedge, Inventor or Solidworks
