Their platform is helping unlock new possibilities in drug discovery, diagnostics, and research by generating high-value molecular insights in real time.

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career Electronics Engineer, including recent graduates, to join a growing hardware team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge scientific instruments.

Why Join?

• Work on highly innovative instrumentation at the intersection of electronics, biology, and engineering

• Join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team tackling technically ambitious challenges

• Contribute to technology with real potential impact across healthcare and scientific research

About the Role

Reporting to the Instrument Team Leader, this primarily site-based role will involve designing, building, and testing electronic subsystems and prototype instruments used in advanced sensing applications. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to support the development and integration of novel hardware solutions.

Responsibilities

• Integrate electronic and mechanical solutions developed internally or with external partners into advanced sensing platforms

• Support lab automation through the implementation of electronic and mechanical devices

• Optimise circuit layouts and develop shielding techniques to reduce noise and interference

• Implement hardware and software signal processing approaches to improve signal-to-noise ratio

• Perform circuit simulation and modelling using tools such as SPICE

• Document designs, test results, requirements, specifications, and technical reports

• Support instrument maintenance activities including upgrades, repairs, and compliance checks

• Liaise with external partners on PCB/chip design, fabrication, and testing

• Keep up to date with emerging trends in precision electronics and sensing technologies

Desired Qualifications and Experience

Required:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering

• Knowledge of analogue electronics, especially instrumentation, low-noise design, and small-signal measurement systems

• Experience using PCB design EDA tools and designing PCBs, with a strong understanding of signal integrity, grounding, shielding, and noise mitigation

• Experience characterising and debugging electronic systems and components such as amplifiers, DACs, ADCs, power supplies, and digital interfaces

• Hands-on experience prototyping, testing, and debugging PCBs and PCBAs using standard electronic lab equipment

• Ability to work across a broad range of engineering problems, from concept design and simulation through prototyping, integration, and system-level troubleshooting

• Working proficiency in C, C++, and Python for test automation and hardware bring-up

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

• Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail

Desirable:

• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, embedded control systems, and supervisory circuitry

• Hands-on experience with soldering and PCB assembly

• Familiarity with life sciences instrumentation or medical devices

Skills

• Analogue electronics

• Low-noise circuit design

• PCB design and debugging

• Signal integrity and shielding

• Test automation

• Hardware prototyping

• Cross-functional collaboration

• Technical documentation
