About the Role
We’re looking for an Assessment Manager to bring professional expertise across the full assessment development lifecycle by supporting the creation, review, and delivery of high‑quality assessment materials across multiple products and projects. Reporting to the Head of Assessment Development and Delivery, you’ll apply recognised professional methodologies and established procedures, exercising sound judgement to produce robust assessment items, stimulus texts, and related materials that meet specifications and quality standards.
In this role, you’ll review new content (items, tasks, texts) for quality, suitability, and alignment to frameworks; compare human‑authored and AI‑generated materials using consistent criteria to assess validity, reliability, appropriateness, and linguistic accuracy; and provide clear, actionable feedback to writers, editors, and external contributors. You’ll oversee end‑to‑end development of selected items and texts, ensure quality assurance at every stage, and support team operations by preparing content, administering workflows, conducting quality checks, and producing documentation and reports. You’ll analyse and resolve non‑routine issues in item development, identify risks in AI‑generated content and when escalation is needed, clarify ambiguous information, and recommend improvements to processes and approaches.
You’ll thrive here if you’re organised, detail‑driven, and comfortable communicating fairly complex assessment and linguistic concepts to varied audiences. You plan and manage your own workload to agreed targets, are accountable for the accuracy and impact of your work, and contribute to continuous improvement. If you bring experience in assessment development, strong editorial judgement, and an evidence‑based approach to evaluating both human and AI‑generated materials, we’d love to hear from you.
This is a 6-month fixed term contract. We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
