This post is offered as a band 8a to band 8b development role. You will develop your skills to lead the service to provide an oncology and haematology clinical pharmacy service to our chemotherapy day unit and inpatient haematology ward, with full support from our Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Pharmacy cancer speciality network across our new 3 Trust Group.
On progression to the band 8a the post holder will be the Accountable Pharmacist for the aseptic production unit and provide professional pharmacist support including clinically screening prescriptions for chemotherapy and authorising final release of products for administration to patients.
As the lead pharmacist you will be a source of advice for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals for cancer services, will offer our new team of junior pharmacists rotations in cancer services and will participate in multidisciplinary and governance meetings.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the oncology and haematology clinical pharmacy service to the chemotherapy day unit and inpatient haematology ward.
* Be the Accountable Pharmacist for the aseptic production unit on progression to band 8a and provide professional pharmacist support including clinically screening prescriptions for chemotherapy and authorising final release of products for administration to patients.
* Act as a source of advice for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals for cancer services; provide junior pharmacists rotations in cancer services; participate in multidisciplinary and governance meetings.
* Lead the implementation of the chemotherapy electronic prescribing (EPR) module.
* Represent the Trust at the Regional Cancer Network and liaise with commissioners to ensure funding for medications.
* Provide strategic leadership to pharmacy cancer services and the aseptic production unit.

Requirements / Qualifications
* Qualified pharmacist with oncology/haematology experience.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience leading or developing a clinical pharmacy service; able to progress to band 8a/8b responsibilities.
* Knowledge of EPR and chemotherapy prescribing is desirable.
