Job Description
Location: Hull, UK (with travel to Wyton site every other week)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
Additional: Occasional weekend work required
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Biospecimen Laboratory Supervisor to lead and coordinate laboratory operations across a range of diagnostic services. This is a pivotal role overseeing multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring high standards of regulatory compliance and scientific output.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and coordinate daily laboratory operations across the following diagnostic services:
* Biospecimen
* Microbiology
* Molecular Biology
* Serology
* Parasitology
* Provide supervision, mentorship, and daily management to a team of 3–5 laboratory staff.
* Ensure all activities are compliant with relevant regulatory and quality assurance (QA) standards.
* Monitor workflow efficiency and ensure optimal use of laboratory resources and personnel.
* Maintain oversight of laboratory safety, compliance documentation, and SOP adherence.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
* Travel to the Wyton site once every two weeks to provide supervision and support for lab operations there.
Key Requirements:
* Education: Degree in Bio-Medical Sciences, Bio-Veterinary Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, or a closely related field.
* Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial laboratory role is essential.
* Strong understanding of laboratory QA/QC protocols and regulatory frameworks.
* Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
* Ability and willingness to travel to another site bi-weekly (expenses covered).
Desirable:
* Previous experience working across multiple diagnostic service areas.
* Familiarity with veterinary diagnostics or biospecimen handling.
