Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to embrace the role of Lead Biomedical Scientist at UHSussex East (Brighton).
Working alongside the Head and Deputy Head of service, the experienced Lead Biomedical Scientist will help drive excellence in laboratory operations, providing expert knowledge and understanding of the local Histopathology service and taking responsibility for day-to-day delivery of the laboratory service at Brighton.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be directly responsible for the operational delivery of the Cellular Pathology Service at Brighton, managing all sections of the laboratory to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective service provision.
Responsibilities include monitoring workflow daily to meet key performance indicators aligned with cancer pathways, escalating concerns as appropriate, and managing staff including recruitment, appraisals, health and wellbeing, rota organization, and leave management.
