About the role:
Administer and optimise SQL Server environments across multiple clients
Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement security best practices
Lead technical discussions and offer strategic guidance to client teams
Perform upgrades, installations, and after-hours maintenance deployments
Tune performance, refine automation, and ensure high availability
Mentor colleagues and contribute to our shared technical knowledge base
Fostering a collaborative approach to inclusive teamworking
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (shared across the team)
About you:
What You Bring
Deep expertise in SQL Server infrastructure and database administration
Strong grasp of backup/recovery models, replication, and performance tuning
Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting (bonus points!)
Experience with HA solutions: Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Clustering, Mirroring
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and migration strategies
Bonus: Exposure to PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL
Excellent communication skills-able to translate tech into business value
A proactive mindset and a passion for solving problems
Qualifications
Microsoft or Oracle certifications are a plus-but not essential
What matters most is your hands-on experience and ability to deliver
