About the Role
The Fleet Manager will be responsible for handling P&I liability claims in line with the Claims Department's guidelines and procedures. The role involves providing advice and support to Club Members in relation to their claims, as well as managing P&I cases within an allocated geographical area.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in claims handling, ideally gained within P&I Club, insurance company, law firm, shipowner, or ship agency.
Your Responsibilities
* Managing P&I claims, providing guidance on non-contentious matters (e.g. reviewing contracts and charter party clauses) and supporting claims colleagues as required.
* Preparing claims file estimates, attending meetings, liaising with correspondents and lawyers, and producing accurate file notes.
* Collaborating effectively as part of a team, supporting Members within the allocated region and ensuring high standard of service delivery.
* Handling P&I claims as delegated by the Claims Director, including cargo, collision, FFO and other types of claims.
* Managing Member contractual reviews including service, tug, rail, terminal, depot and stevedores and armed guards.
* Meeting visiting Members, lawyers, surveyors and other experts as appropriate.
* Providing general advice and assistance as required by the Members.
* Attending and contributing to internal meetings as appropriate.
* Ad hoc duties as required.
About You
Knowledge/Experience
* At least 2-5 years' experience, preferably gained from within a P&I insurer, lawyers, ship owners or ships agents.
* Understands all elements of cargo related claims (loss / damage).
* Familiar with maritime liabilities.
Skills
* Computer literate and familiar with all MS Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)

* Communication – ability to quickly assimilate information, establish key issues and to express them effectively and succinctly in writing and verbally.
* Customer focused – recognises the needs of external / internal customers and consistently delivers and meets promises made.
* Judgement – collates the required information, involves the appropriate people to ensure the best decisions are made and subsequently implemented.
* Accurate / detail orientated – ability to work accurately with detailed information and work to key dates and/or milestones.
