About the employer
The employer is a 30‑year‑old female living in North Cardiff with her partner and two young children (aged 5 and 2).
She has a medical condition that creates difficulties with balance, dizziness, muscle weakness, pain and occasionally vision problems; during flare‑ups she may need personal care assistance.
Purpose of the job
Looking for a PA for 5 hours per week to provide respite for the partner.
Place of work
Primarily based at the employer’s home with occasional support required in the community.
Hours of work
5 hours per week, ideally split into two 2.5‑hour sessions.
During term time, one session will be on Tuesday evenings between 5:00 – 7:30pm while the partner attends a course. The second session can be arranged flexibly. On some weeks, mainly during the school holidays, it would be helpful to combine the hours into one 5‑hour session to support family outings.
Rate of pay
£14.60
Tasks involved
* Support the employer to care for her children (including nappy changes, bathing and dressing).
* Assist with personal care tasks when required.
* Light domestic tasks.
* Support the family on outings (Zoos, farms, science centre, parks, library, swimming etc.) including pushing a wheelchair or pram if needed.
Profile required
* Female preferred due to personal care tasks.
* Non‑smoker.
* Reliable and punctual.
* Friendly, patient and understanding.
* Good with energetic young children.
* Welsh language skills would be a bonus.
* Able to drive an automatic car (occasionally required).
Additional information
Though a part‑time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number. There will be a probation period. Wages will be paid weekly. The employee will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro‑rata). A DBS check will be required at the employee’s expense.
