School Admissions Officer (Appeals) Permanent Contract Grade C - £35,412 - £44,075 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week A vacancy has arisen in the School Admissions and Fair Access Service for an experienced Appeals Presenting Officer. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in school admissions and appeals. The role requires resilience and confidence, as you will regularly present complex cases for non-admission to independent panels and parent/carers for extended periods, often in environments that can be confrontational and emotionally charged. You must be prepared to handle frequent and robust challenges from families and panel members while maintaining professionalism and clarity under pressure. Success in this role depends on an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of all relevant school admissions codes, policies, and procedures, and the ability to articulate these accurately and persuasively to diverse audiences. Meticulous preparation of detailed documentation and thorough background research are essential, alongside effective collaboration with colleagues across the service and schools. This demanding role is suited to individuals who can combine expert knowledge with outstanding communication skills and resilience in the face of challenge.
