Job Title: Portfolio Underwriting Manager
Location: Leeds (Hybrid)
Salary: £70,000 – £90,000

Role Summary:
This is a pivotal role for a technically strong underwriter who thrives on data, governance, and commercial impact. You’ll manage and grow delegated authority schemes, acting as a key link between Coverholders, Pricing, and Capacity Providers. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll help shape underwriting strategy, enhance portfolio performance, and embed underwriting discipline across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Portfolio Management: Analyse portfolio data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities - ensuring profitable underwriting performance.
* Underwriting Governance: Apply underwriting appetite, eligibility, and risk selection criteria to maintain compliance and technical standards.
* Partner Engagement: Lead performance reviews and build trusted relationships with Coverholders and capacity partners to drive profitable growth.
* Leadership: Support and mentor Underwriters, sharing market insight and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
* Collaboration: Work closely with Pricing and internal teams to optimise rating sophistication, scheme performance, and customer outcomes.
Requirements:
* Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
* Proven experience managing delegated authority portfolios
* Strong understanding of underwriting governance and regulatory frameworks
* Commercial mindset with a balance between growth and discipline
* Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
* CII qualified (working towards ACII desirable)
