Our OEM Client based in Coventry is searching for a Human Factors Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a 12-month contract position initially until 31st March 2026, with potential for extensions.
Umbrella Pay Rate: £27.03.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Human Factors Researcher to join the Human Sciences team, consisting of researchers, psychologists, and cognitive neuroscientists.
This role focuses on creating human-centered user experience designs for future vehicle products, including interface systems such as center screens, voice controls, passenger entertainment, and other interaction methods.
The responsibilities include defining system requirements, designing content schemes for next-generation in-vehicle systems, and ensuring designs support safe driving tasks.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human factors, ergonomics, and user experience research, with experience conducting research to understand user behaviors and applying findings to improve system usability.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct User Research: Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative studies, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, literature reviews, and field observations. Define key information requirements based on analysis.
* Analyse Data: Interpret research data to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.
* Collaborate with Design Teams: Work closely with designers, engineers, and product managers to incorporate human factors principles into product development.
* Create Interactions: Develop interface concepts aligned with company guidelines and human-centered design principles.
* Evaluate Prototypes: Assess prototypes and provide actionable feedback to enhance usability.
* Document Findings: Prepare reports and presentations to communicate research insights and recommendations.
* Stay Updated: Keep current with trends and advancements in human factors and ergonomics.
Skills Required
* Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, User Experience, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related fields.
* Experience in human factors research or similar roles.
* Strong analytical skills, proficiency in research methodologies, excellent communication, and teamwork abilities.
* Familiarity with research tools such as SPSS, R, NVivo, or similar.
Skills Preferred
* Experience working within an agile team developing user experiences for vehicles, including sprint planning, requirement gathering, concept development, and prototyping.
* Ability to create, review, and refine concepts with stakeholders and brand partners.
* Experience in building prototypes for testing.
* Collaborate with UI researchers to define UX requirements for seamless user journeys.
* Knowledge of developments in human-machine interfaces.
Education
* Same as Skills Required: Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in relevant fields.
