Authorised Person – Electrical UK Defence Academy, Swindon, SN6 8LA Permanent, Full time, Mon-Thurs 8am-4pm, Fri 8am-3:30pm Competitive salary plus benefits Serco have an exciting new role for an Authorised Person in our Estates department. The role requires a thorough understanding of JSP375, and the ability to provide support, guidance, strategy and direction to the Estates Project team. This will be a challenging role and requires an individual with the experience of managing all AP documentation in accordance with JSP 375. Working within the Serco Estates Team, the Authorised Person (AP) Electrical will be responsible for co-ordinating, monitoring, supporting and elements of the delivery of all Electrical AP requirements across the Estate with direct liaison with other site-based Serco Authorised Persons and Authorising Engineers (AE). Main responsibilities: Acting as site lead for AP duties in Electrical Supporting the SHEF Manager, the post holder shall be responsible for the efficient delivery of a range of Authorised Person (AP) duties, ensuring works carried out on high risk assets and activities are controlled and monitored as per JSP375 Part 2 Volume 3 Chapter 2 (Common requirements) and the associated discipline chapters. The AP is the individual responsible for the practical implementation and application of JSP 375 Pt 2 Volume 3 for the systems, installations and locations for which they have been appointed. The AP is to: Co-operate and communicate with other parties (internal & external) as required to arrange shutdowns of systems, plant and equipment Reviewing, in conjunction with other AP’s and stake holders, all prospective work on systems that fall under the requirements of the safe system of work and determining the appropriate level of control Ensure that a relevant plan is prepared to ensure adequate isolation of a System prior to the issue of any Safety Documents for that System Ensure that any recipient of a Safety Document is a registered Skilled Person (SkP) with appropriates competencies for the system to be worked on Visibly check the relevant point(s) of work for soundness and that the work is complete (where applicable) Provide suitable and sufficient evidence of personal competence to the satisfaction of t he AE. This will require a personal logbook as described in Annex B to JSP 375 Pt 2 Volume 3 Chapter – Common requirements Within the scope of the systems under the APs control, assure the competency of Skilled Persons as described in JSP375 Part 2 Volume 3 Chapter 2 (Common requirements) prior to the issue of any safety documentation. Manage registers of Skilled Persons as appropriate Fulfil additional discipline specific duties as described within specific chapters of JSP 375 Pt 2 Volume 3 – within the AP’s competence set Working in collaboration with the Compliance, Operations and Project Services Teams to ensure a fully compliant estate and provide the very best asset management information The post holder will, while working in collaboration with the Compliance, Operations and Project teams, assist in the management and maintenance of site electrical networks, gas supplies and other specialist systems The post holder must ensure that clear communication of corrective action report findings and recommendations are communicated to all stakeholders, also any follow up of all corrective actions report recommendations are reviewed to ensure remediation measures have been actioned and are effective Review risk registers and follow maintenance and management processes Support the SHEF Manager in all other duties as required enabling the delivery of the r ole of the Authorised Person What you’ll need to do the role: In depth working knowledge of JSP375 volume 3, any agreed local variations, and of those regulations which are applicable to the equipment, systems or locations. Be able to demonstrate through formal assessment by the AE their competency to be able to safely operate, make safe and to manage work on or in, the equipment, systems or locations for which the appointment is sought and their knowledge of JSP 375 Pt 2 Volume 3 Have successfully completed the appropriate tuition, training and equipment familiarity regime as detailed in JSP375 Part 2 Volume 3 Chapter 2 (Common requirements) and the discipline specific chapters of JSP 375 Pt 2 Volume 3 An accredited Bachelors or honours degree in engineering or technology o r a Higher National Diploma or a Foundation Degree in engineering or technology, plus appropriate further learning to degree level Or an NVQ4 or SVQ4 which has been approved for the purpose by a licensed professional engineering institution, plus appropriate further learning to degree level An Advanced/Modern Apprenticeship or other work-based learning programme approved by a licensed professional engineering institution Or a qualification, approved by a licensed professional engineering institution in engineering or construction set at level 3 (or above) in the Qualifications and Credit Framework/National Qualifications Framework for England and Northern Ireland; or at level 6 (or above) in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework; or at level 3 (or above) in the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales o r equivalent qualifications approved by a licensed professional engineering institution.
