Job Summary

At GKN Aerospace, we ensure that our customers benefit from the latest advancements in material science, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in modern engineering. Our advanced additive manufacturing methods are used in several high-profile projects, including the production of critical components for engines.

We are looking for a process engineer with experience in the laser powder bed fusion process to enhance the design engineering capability at GKN Aerospace Engine Systems in Trollhättan, Sweden. You will join a team of experienced materials and process engineers dedicated to technology and product development. You will be central in product verification activities including review of instructions, technical plans for process control, material verifications plans etc.

You will support technology activities to improve process capability and robustness. You will collaborate with our specialists and support them in establishing in-house standards, as well as feedstock and manufacturing post-process requirements.

Your previous experience with the laser powder bed fusion process and understanding of its characteristics will be important assets in your work leading and executing problem solving activities, including identification of root causes and implementation of corrective actions.

In line with our rapid advancements in additive manufacturing, your daily responsibilities will focus on ensuring quality and delivery, while also identifying and driving improvement initiatives for long-term success. You will be encouraged to share your ideas and questions and have the opportunity to challenge yourself every day.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience from the aerospace industry related to manufacturing processes
• Experience with aerospace materials such as titanium and nickel-based alloys
• Experience of LPBF manufacturing post-processes including inspection methods (Heat treatment, HIP, surface treatments, NDT, etc…) and in-situ monitoring.
• Training and/or experience in lean tools and techniques
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Interest in digitalization and automation of manufacturing processes
• Interest or experience in simulation of manufacturing processes

We’ll offer you fantastic challenges and opportunities. This is your chance to be part of an organisation that is at the cutting edge of our industry and committed to pushing the boundaries further. With some of the best training in the industry, who knows how far you can go?
